Independent analysis,
delivered as a report.

Assembling the data needed to evaluate a candidate site currently takes days across six separate sources. Medha compresses that to under an hour, drawing on the same satellite imagery, geospatial datasets, and open government data that practitioners use.

Every report presents the data in full — grid headroom, constraint designations, resource figures, utility distances, yield estimates, and cable route costs — cited, timestamped, and classified using a recognised intelligence standard. Nothing is inferred that cannot be evidenced.

Medha is the step before commitment. The instrument that gives you the complete picture before you decide whether the next step is worth taking.

From submission to report.

The pipeline runs automatically from the moment a report is ordered. No analyst queue, no project intake, no kickoff call. Satellite and meteorological data is retrieved first. Grid, constraint, and infrastructure data follows. The report presents everything together, fully cited, in a single document.

Grid and constraint analysis

The system queries the national substation database, calculates proximity to grid infrastructure at each voltage level, assesses headroom, and checks voltage compatibility. Every applicable planning constraint layer is intersected against the site boundary in parallel.

03

Utilities and route infrastructure

The system identifies the nearest classified road and assesses abnormal load route feasibility for construction traffic. Water mains, fibre infrastructure, and onshore cable route from site to the grid connection point are all calculated using least-cost routing — avoiding planning constraints, heritage zones, and major crossings. Each route segment is costed against published benchmarks and rendered on the interactive map.

Solar and wind resource data

NASA POWER GHI, DNI, and DHI are retrieved for the site coordinates and parsed to a twenty-year climatological mean with monthly profiles. ERA5 wind speed at 10m is extracted from a locally held reanalysis record and extrapolated to hub height using the wind power law. Global Wind Atlas Weibull parameters are retrieved for the site. PVGIS calculates energy output from the measured irradiance data at the site-specific tilt angle.

Geospatial map generation

Site overview and regional context maps rendered for the PDF. The interactive H3 geospatial map is built with adaptive resolution and switchable layers covering topography, grid infrastructure, resource heat maps, constraint zones, flood risk, soil type, and fibre infrastructure.

Synthesis and delivery

All structured findings are assembled into a coherent report — per-section data narrative, confidence rating on each data source, and a summary of what the findings show. The interpretation and the decision remain with the buyer. The PDF is assembled with Source reliability classification per section, full data provenance, and query timestamps. Both deliverables are sent by email within two minutes of completion.

Open data, rigorously applied.

Every source used in a Medha report is publicly available, independently maintained, and cited with version, dataset identifier, and query timestamp. The report presents the data as retrieved. We do not model or interpolate where the source data speaks directly.

What the report can
and cannot tell you.

Medha reports are desktop intelligence products. They support early-stage decision-making and do not substitute for investment-grade feasibility studies, on-site measurement campaigns, or legal opinions. Every section carries an explicit data quality rating.

Data authenticity — Source reliability

Every section carries a two-part data quality rating. The rating separates the reliability of the source from the credibility of the specific information it provides. This framework is used across defence, intelligence, and regulatory communities worldwide.

Source reliability
ACompletely reliablePrimary statutory sources — SSSI data, OFAC lists, NASA POWER
BUsually reliableDNO open data, ESA Copernicus, ERA5 reanalysis
CFairly reliableLPA planning policy, open directories
FCannot be judgedBeneficial ownership data where primary source unavailable

IEC methodology alignment

Yield calculations and resource assessments follow recognised international standards. P50 and P90 estimates are derived from long-term satellite datasets using interannual variability statistics consistent with standard industry practice for desktop studies.

IEC 61724-1

Photovoltaic system performance

Solar yield calculations, PR adjustment, specific yield methodology, and P50/P90 derivation aligned to this standard.

IEC 61400-1

Wind turbine design requirements

Wind resource assessment, hub height extrapolation, Weibull parameter application, and AEP calculation aligned to this standard.

From three days of
manual work to thirty minutes.

A developer screening a candidate site currently pulls data from six sources, assembles it by hand, and still misses the constraints that kill a project. Medha does that work automatically and delivers a verdict before they commit to the next step.

Without Medha
  • Grid proximity checked manually on DNO heat maps — no capacity data, no voltage compatibility check
  • Planning constraints searched one designation at a time across four separate portals
  • Solar resource estimated from memory or a generic UK average
  • Agricultural land grade not checked until planning pre-application — reveals Grade 2 land after option is signed
  • REPD not searched — a competing application 1.8km away is already in planning
  • Three days of analyst time, six browser tabs, and still an incomplete picture before a decision has to be made
With Medha
  • Nearest 33kV substation 1.4km — headroom 14.2MVA, voltage compatible for up to 12MWp
  • Onshore cable route calculated — 2.3km, estimated cost £690k–£1.84M, no scheduled monument crossings
  • Nearest A-road 0.6km — abnormal load route feasible, no weak bridges on approach
  • Water main 320m, fibre route 1.1km — SCADA connectivity confirmed
  • All planning constraint layers intersected — two MEDIUM risks, no fatal flaws
  • NASA POWER GHI 1,067 kWh/m²/yr — ERA5 mean wind 6.4 m/s at 100m — PVGIS specific yield 1,024 kWh/kWp/yr
  • PDF report and interactive map delivered in 26 minutes. Every data point cited, every source version recorded. The decision is yours.
Worked example

The situation

A land agent is screening eight farm sites across Yorkshire for a solar developer client. The developer needs a ranked shortlist by end of week. Manual screening of all eight would take the agent's team four days and still leave the grid connection picture unclear at most sites.

They submit all eight as a batch using a single Medha licence key. Each site returns a full report within 30 minutes. The batch comparative summary ranks all eight and flags the two sites with fatal constraints immediately.

Intelligence tools for
physical world decisions.

Medha is a compute-led intelligence platform delivering structured, evidence-based reports on decisions that require geospatial analysis at speed. The platform draws on earth observation data, open geospatial sources, and satellite-derived datasets that are publicly available but rarely assembled in a form that is immediately useful to a practitioner.

The first tool assembles complete site data for renewable energy development. Designed for land agents, renewable developers, and project finance teams who need the measured and observational data picture on a candidate site before committing to a full feasibility study.

Medha is operated by QuantumRx, a UK applied intelligence company. Membership is managed at quantumrx.eu.
